Directories placed at the main entrance and individual stations in the tenant suites allow  communication and door release.  Telephone based systems use a phone line to call into each tenant suite from which the tenant can use the phone to unlock the door.  While initially more costly, the telephone based systems save in the long run since there is no independent wiring or intercom station in each tenant suite to maintain.
